Online, words themselves — once silent and still — are suddenly springing to life. And that can be, in every sense, a shock to the system. (Awesome! And also: Aaah!). Text, after all, as an artifact and a construct, has generally been a noun rather than a verb, defined by its thingness — and, in that, by its passive willingness to be the object of interpretation by active human minds.
